Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and maintaining clear communication with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Review medical records to verify the accuracy of coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding.
- Resolve claim denials and rejections efficiently by analyzing reasons for denial and making necessary corrections or adjustments.
- Follow up on outstanding medical collections by contacting insurance companies and patients to secure payment.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, patient records, and insurance correspondence to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation for accurate coding and billing procedures.
- Stay current with updates in health insurance policies, medical coding standards, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare claims management within a medical office environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims processing.
- Familiarity with billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with health insurance providers and understanding of health insurance policies.
- Knowledge of medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, DRG classifications, and ICD coding practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
Schedule & Details:
- Full-time – Monday to Friday
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- In-person in Lodi, CA
