Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and trustworthy Non-Medical Sitter Companion Caregiver to provide companionship and daily support to clients in their homes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, offering encouragement, assisting with light household tasks, and helping clients remain safe, comfortable, and supported.
This is a non-medical position. Caregivers do not provide hands-on medical care, nursing services, medication administration, bathing, lifting/transferring, wound care, or skilled personal care services.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing companionship and friendly conversation
- Sitting with clients to help ensure comfort and safety
- Offering supervision and general safety awareness
- Assisting with light housekeeping such as tidying, laundry, dishes, and basic cleaning
- Preparing simple meals or snacks
- Running approved errands such as grocery pickup, prescription pickup, or household essentials
- Providing medication reminders or supervision only; no medication administration
- Helping clients stay engaged through activities, conversation, reading, games, or walks as appropriate
- Reporting any concerns, changes in condition, or safety issues to the office or designated family contact
- Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and respectful communication with clients and families
- Following the client’s service plan and company policies
Qualifications
- Must be compassionate, dependable, patient, and professional.
- Must be able to pass required Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening before hire.
- Prior experience as a sitter, companion caregiver, homemaker, home care aide, senior companion, or similar role preferred.
- Must understand this is a nonmedical companion care position.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance preferred/required if running errands.
- Must be able to assist with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, grocery pickup, prescription pickup, and companionship.
- Must be comfortable providing medication reminders/supervision only — no medication administration.
- Must be able to follow a written service plan and report concerns to the office or designated family contact.
- Must maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- CPR/First Aid preferred, but not required unless your company chooses to require it.
- Must be able to communicate respectfully with clients, families, and office staff.

This position does not include:
- Bathing, dressing, grooming, or toileting assistance
- Heavy lifting or client transfers
- Hoyer lift use
- Medication administration
- Vital signs monitoring
- Wound care
- Nursing care
- Medical decision-making
- Hands-on personal care
