The Director of Sales – Commercial & Fleet Fueling at P.B. This role oversees sales strategy, customer relationship management, business development, and the performance of a high-impact sales team.

The Director is a key member of the leadership team and plays a central role in positioning P.B. Hoidale Co., Inc. as a trusted partner for fueling infrastructure, equipment, technology, and service solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for commercial, industrial, municipal, and fleet fueling markets.
  • Identify and prioritize new market opportunities, emerging technologies, and strategic growth areas.
  • Establish sales performance goals, KPIs, and forecasting models.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align sales initiatives with companywide objectives.

Business Development

  • Lead efforts to generate new business through targeted outreach, market research, networking, and partnership development.
  • Cultivate relationships with key decision-makers across commercial fleets, transportation companies, government agencies, construction firms, fuel distributors, and related markets.
  • Develop proposals, bids, and presentations for large-scale fueling projects and multi-site programs.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team to improve performance, product knowledge, and customer engagement.
  • Support hiring, training, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, goal achievement, and customer-centric service.

Customer & Account Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with top-tier clients and high-value accounts.
  • Oversee the negotiation of contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through regular communication, issue resolution, and proactive support.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with project management, engineering, field service, and operations teams to support accurate proposals, technical solutions, and on-time project delivery.
  • Partner with marketing to develop targeted campaigns, product launches, and market messaging.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to leadership regarding customer needs, market trends, and competitor activity.

Product & Market Expertise

  • Act as a subject matter expert on commercial and fleet fueling solutions, including fuel systems (UST/AST), cardlock systems, dispensers, monitoring equipment, DEF solutions, fueling automation, and related technologies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies impacting the fueling market.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and professional organizations to enhance market presence.

Financial Oversight

  • Manage the sales budget, including revenue forecasting, expense tracking, and ROI analysis.
  • Ensure profitable sales by adhering to margin targets and cost control measures.
  • Support strategic pricing initiatives and proposal review processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7–10 years of sales leadership experience, ideally in commercial fueling, petroleum equipment, industrial systems, or B2B technical sales.
  • Proven track record of developing sales strategies and delivering revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles involving equipment, installation, service, and long-term contracts.
  • Knowledge of fuel-system equipment, fleet fueling operations, environmental regulations, and industry best practices is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics, and forecasting tools.
