What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach Counselor position at P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc.?
P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. is seeking an Outreach Counselor to work a minimum of 40 hours a week to further our mission of strengthening families by providing resources, skills, support and advocacy to create a cycle of positive parenting.
The overall goal of the position is to promote safe and stable families by mitigating the risk of child abuse and/or neglect to the families that are referred to the program from Child Welfare Services (CWS).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as case coordinator
- Engage clients
- Provide ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment
- Planning and implementation
- Evaluation of the family's needs
- Providing individual, couple or family counseling, skill building with parents, modeling appropriate parent-child interaction
- Making referrals for families to community resources as appropriate.
**Sessions may occur in the office, the family’s home or in the community.
- Must work cooperatively and effectively with the Management and Administration, co-workers and program participants in providing quality assurance for programs
- Have the knowledge, skill and ability to work with a wide range of individuals, community groups and systems of care.
- Be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
- Adhere to all company policies and contractual requirements
- Must be able to receive feedback, participate in group and individual supervision, and complete all paperwork/documentation by contract and agency deadlines.
- Must be proficient with MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
- All applicants must be honest, responsible, detail-oriented, organized and model ethical behavior and professional skills to both staff and program participants.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, from an accredited institution; and a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with parents/caretakers who harmed or threatened to harm their children and children who experienced harm or were threatened with harm, and who experienced trauma and loss.
Preferred: Additional experience working with domestic violence, substance abuse and permanency issues is a plus.
**Must be willing to travel to surrounding communities and retain appropriate levels of motor vehicle insurance as mandated by agency and/or contractual requirements.**
Due to contractual requirements, applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered for this position.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
