What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Inspector position at Ozell Services?
Cottonwood, CA | Travel Required | Anticipated August–December 2026
The selected inspector will provide on-site construction oversight, monitor contractor compliance with contract documents, maintain detailed project documentation, and help ensure quality and safety throughout construction. Travel is required, and overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be necessary based on the construction schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily QA/QC inspections of construction activities
- Verify compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Prepare detailed daily reports with photographs documenting project progress
- Identify deficiencies and monitor corrective actions
- Coordinate with Government representatives, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Monitor construction schedules and maintain accurate project documentation
- Observe and document contractor safety compliance
- Attend project meetings and provide technical support as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore or similar construction management software is a plus
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel
- U.S. Citizen
- Ability to successfully pass an enhanced federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- High-voltage electrical substation construction experience
- Utility, heavy civil, or industrial construction inspection experience
- Experience with foundations, concrete, structural steel, underground utilities, and electrical systems
- OSHA safety knowledge and experience working on federal construction projects
