Certified Pool Operator (CPO) – RV Resort
Employment Type: Full-Time or Contract (Third-Party/1099)
Location: Oak Grove, AR
Compensation: $16.00 to $19.00 Per Hour
About the Role
Ozarks Luxury RV Resort is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Certified Pool Operator (CPO) to maintain our two (2) resort pools and hot tubs/spas. This role ensures a clean, safe, and well-balanced swimming environment for our guests and residents. Available as a full-time position or as a contract arrangement through a third-party service provider.
Key Responsibilities
Water Quality & Chemical Management
- Test and adjust water chemistry (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid) for both pools and both hot tubs/spas, multiple times daily as needed given higher bather loads typical of resort settings
- Maintain accurate chemical logs for each body of water in compliance with state and local health department regulations
- Order, receive, and safely store pool chemicals; manage inventory to avoid shortages during peak season
- Monitor spa/hot tub chemistry closely due to higher temperatures and faster chemical demand shifts
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Vacuum pool floors, brush walls and tile lines, and skim debris from all four bodies of water daily
- Clean pool decks, coping, and surrounding guest areas to maintain resort presentation standards
- Clean and maintain hot tub/spa jets, filters, and surfaces
- Backwash and clean filtration systems for both pools and both spas on a routine schedule
- Empty skimmer baskets and clear debris from pump strainer baskets
Equipment & Facility Upkeep
- Inspect and maintain pumps, filters, heaters, and chlorinators/feeders for all four bodies of water
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on pool/spa equipment; coordinate with vendors for major repairs
- Monitor and maintain proper water levels across all pools/spas, especially during high-guest-traffic periods
- Conduct routine safety inspections (fencing, gates, drains, anti-entrapment covers, signage, emergency equipment) to ensure compliance with health codes
Seasonal & Guest-Facing Duties
- Assist with seasonal opening/closing procedures if the resort has seasonal closures (winterizing/de-winterizing)
- Post accurate pool/spa hours, closures, and safety signage as needed
- Respond promptly to guest concerns regarding water clarity, temperature, or cleanliness
- Coordinate with resort management/front desk regarding scheduled maintenance windows to minimize guest disruption
Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with state/local health department pool and spa codes
- Follow OSHA and EPA guidelines for chemical handling, storage
- Maintain documentation ready for health inspector visits
Requirements
- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification (required) or willingness to obtain within [XX days] of hire
- Experience maintaining multiple pools/spas simultaneously preferred
- Working knowledge of pool and spa chemistry, filtration, and heating systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather/seasonal conditions
- Comfortable handling and storing pool chemicals safely
- Valid driver's license (if role includes off-site chemical/supply pickup)
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible schedule, including weekends/holidays during peak RV travel season
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a resort, campground, or hospitality setting
- Basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting for pool/spa equipment
- Familiarity with high-turnover guest environments and seasonal demand fluctuations
- OSHA 10/30 certification a plus
Work Environment
Regular outdoor work in a resort setting, exposure to pool/spa chemicals, and physical tasks including bending, kneeling, and lifting. Guest interaction should be expected as pools are actively in use during maintenance hours.
