Job Overview

Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, and other routes while adhering to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Perform specialized procedures including suturing, catheterization (urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and wound care in compliance with best practices.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and coordinate complex care plans involving trauma medicine, ICU protocols, or hospice & palliative medicine as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and infectious disease care to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide triage services in urgent care or emergency room settings by prioritizing cases based on severity and ensuring timely interventions.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as medication administration, chronic disease management (including diabetes or long-term care), and discharge planning.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state requirements.
- Proven experience working in hospital medicine, critical care units (ICU/Level I & II trauma centers), or emergency medicine environments.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory experience including specimen collection/processing.
- Hands-on skills in IV insertion, phlebotomy, ventilator management, sterile processing techniques, and infection control practices.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (memory & dementia care), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations confidently while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Critical thinking skills combined with excellent communication abilities to ensure safe patient assessments and effective case management.
