Therapist (UBS)

The Urgent Behavioral Solutions (UBS) Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of therapeutic services. They are responsible for delivering a full range of UBS services. UBS QMHP will provide services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. Demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. UBS QMHP will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received.

Education

• A master’s degree in behavioral health or human services field meeting the criteria as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) as outlined by Missouri Department of Mental Health.
  
  

Work Experiences

• One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, preferred.
• One (1) year experience in crisis intervention work, preferred.
  
  

Responsibilities

• QMHP shall provide stabilization to patients presenting at Urgent Behavioral Solutions when requested.
• QMHP shall assure that the following basic principles of crisis intervention underlie delivery of these services:
• Assistance must be easily accessed and immediately available.
• Crisis should be viewed in systems terms, suggesting the need to involve significant others or other community safety net providers to resolve the precipitating event or crisis, if possible.
• Medication may be a necessary strategy to reduce stress.
• Active intervention includes advocacy, supportive guidance, and identification of adaptive responses that are generally required to resolve the crisis at hand as well as restore the client to a higher level of self-sufficiency.
• QMHP performs interviews and assessments, identifying present problems and generating preliminary, person-centered treatment plans for all new patients.
• Provide follow-up services for those seen. QMHP will coordinate with the patient’s regular service provider(s) or provide continued service using evidence-based practices. Those patients without a regular provider until outpatient services are established or services are no longer necessary.
• QMHP shall be knowledgeable in involuntary detention laws and procedures.
• QMHP shall report to and shall be under the administration of the Director of Urgent Care Services for program specific supervision.
  
  

Physical Requirements

Normal office environment. Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed. Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals. TB test upon hire
