Role overview:The NG911 Call Handling SME will lead technical efforts to upgrade and integrate the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) call handling platform, ensuring standards compliance and robust performance during design, configuration, and testing phases. The role focuses on NENA/APCO-compliant call handling, interoperability with legacy systems, and rigorous end-to-end testing. Key responsibilities:Manage and oversee the upgrade of the call handling system to a NENA-compliant NG9-1-1 call handling platform.Ensure NG9-1-1 call handling solutions comply with National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) standards.Develop and maintain test cases for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Acceptance Testing (SAT), and System Integration Testing (SIT) for call handling components.Identify and document risks related to call handling system integration with NG9-1-1 and related subsystems.Validate test results for call handling components during FAT, SAT, and SIT, including review of architectural flows and comparison with raw test results to confirm expected system behavior. Required qualifications:At least 12 years of experience with relevant technical and/or business applications, products, platforms, or methodologies.Engineering experience working with NENA and APCO standards in public safety communications environments.Experience with NG911 call routing, including border control, policy routing, location validation, and technologies supporting legacy PSAP voice systems.Strong knowledge of NG911 technologies including call handling, ESInet and core services, SIP, VoIP, and network protocols.Experience with technical design and deployment of both NG911 and legacy telephony systems. Work Schedule:Normal business hours, Monday–Friday, 35 hours per week (excluding an unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work).Onsite role based in Brooklyn, NY.Background check may be required as part of the hiring process.
