- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
- Provide oversight of and monitor the operating company’s maintenance processes, focused on the electrical and instrument areas, to ensure cost effectiveness and assist the operating company in developing outage or major repair plans, maintaining all appropriate engineering drawings, files, and specifications to ensure proper documentation of ACL/CYA equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance, operations personnel and maintenance engineers to minimize maintenance problems in the ACL and CYA production units.
- Consult with contractors, maintenance and outside service groups on capital and maintenance projects.
- Evaluate, design, and recommend, changes in maintenance activities to increase reliability of existing electrical/instrument equipment, reduce repair/rebuild costs, and minimize product interruptions.
- Coordinate with the operating company to develop, implement, and evaluate preventive maintenance programs, testing and calibration procedures, troubleshooting techniques for electrical/instrument equipment.
- Recommend and provide oversight of spare parts management for existing electrical/instrument equipment.
- Provide coordination between the Production, Project, Maintenance and Corporate Engineering Departments regarding capital project development, equipment specification and layout development, including preparation of cost estimates and AFE’s and purchase requests.
- Lead development and execution of plant level E&I related capital projects to increase reliability of existing electrical/instrument equipment, reduce repair/rebuild costs, and minimize product interruptions.
- Develop long-range capital plans for all ACL/CYA E&I related equipment and participate in yearly capital plan development.
- Represent and/or assist production and engineering in matters of evaluation, selection and coordination, and control of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment, and other needs of the operation.
- Assist in training hourly personnel in operation and control of equipment, troubleshooting and repair techniques. Develop the necessary training as required.
- Support and participate in ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS), NSF Certifications, and serve as a member of the Management Review Team (MRT).
- Attend technical meetings and seminars to maintain and improve skills related to their discipline and areas of maintenance management.
- Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by Plant Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 5 or more years of electrical engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience working with consulting engineers.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
