What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Accountant (Indirect & Payroll Tax) position at Oxford Tax Recruiting?
We are working with a fast-growing IT services provider to help them identify a Senior Accountant level professional to help manage indirect tax issues and some payroll related tax items. This is the first in-house tax person the company will be hiring. Currently, all the income tax work is outsourced. This is a unique opportunity for someone to help build processes and systems and to broaden their knowledge of tax related issues.

Some of the things you’ll be doing as a Senior Tax Accountant:
- Helping oversee that payroll tax filings are completed and address issues as they arise
- Oversee sales and use tax work which would include compliance, audit response, taxability analysis, etc.
- Work closely with the payroll and accounting departments
- Potentially assisting with workpaper preparation for federal and state income tax returns
- Identify other areas of tax to help save the company money and add value
The preferred background for the Senior Tax Accountant would be:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 3 years of experience with indirect taxes (sales and use)
- Some knowledge of payroll taxes
- Willingness and ability to learn without direct management
- Self-starter that is flexible
- Skilled with common software and apps (Excel, etc.)
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize responsibilities
Out of state candidates are being considered but the job requires someone to be based within 2 hours of the Denver metro area. No relocation assistance will be provided.
