Job Summary
Definition The Chief Operations Officer (COO) manages daily operations, oversees and ensures that business, finance, information technology, human resources, facilities, food services, communications, transportation, and operations are well-coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and coaching its people. Works closely with the organization’s back-office provider to support business management services. Facilitates and guides organization operations according to established policies and vision. Serves as a member of the Executive Director's cabinet and functions as the organization's operating officer. Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborate with the Executive Director (ED) and Cabinet members in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs. Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, safeguards, and annual operations planning. Directly oversee the back-office provider, business operations, fiscal, information technology, human resources, facilities, transportation, and food services. Oversee organizational budgeting, operations, and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met. Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention. Adhere to organization, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary. Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement. Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, and community partners. Planning and monitoring the day-to-day running of the organization to ensure smooth progress. Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential. Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential, Master's degree from an accredited college/university, Doctorate degree highly desirable, Experience in charter school policy, governance, and public relations preferred. Must demonstrate his/her ability as the lead learner, including knowledge of: - Charter school operations, and organization, rules, regulations, and laws governing charter schools; - Local community in which the students and their families live and work. It is vital that the administration have an understanding of the community to assist students in reaching their academic potential; - Multiple Intelligences approaches to learning couples with experience in teaching strategies; - Data-based innovative educational research that may be applied to strengthen student learning; and - Students and their families, including their background and aspirations.
