Now Hiring: Transportation Aide/ Driver
Responsibilities:
- Safe Patient Transport: Operate an agency-provided vehicle (van or bus, which may include a wheelchair lift) to transport patients/residents to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, and facility-sponsored activities.
- Patient Assistance & Safety: Provide direct, hands-on assistance to passengers. This includes helping them transfer in and out of the vehicle, pushing wheelchairs or stretchers, and ensuring they are properly secured with seatbelts or restraints during transit.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Follow a pre-determined schedule and route, maintain accurate trip logs, and communicate proactively with dispatch and nursing staff regarding pick-up/drop-off times or any changes in a patient’s condition.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure the vehicle is clean, and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Compassionate Care: Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor at all times, providing comfort and reassurance to passengers who may be frail, disabled, or in pain.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- A valid state-issued Driver's License and a consistently clean driving record.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and the ability to safely lift or assist in transferring patients up to 50 pounds (with assistance from proper equipment or another staff member).
- Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility and punctuality.
- Experience in a healthcare or related setting is a plus.
