Tourism Economics, a subsidiary of Oxford Economics, is looking to hire a Data Engineer based in our Wayne, PA office. As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, product development, and machine learning initiatives across the organization. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer to develop scalable ingestion pipelines, improve reliability across environments, and ensure that data is delivered with consistency, accuracy, and performance. You will play a key role in shaping engineering standards and supporting the long-term growth of the platform.

Key Responsibilities
Data Pipelines and Infrastructure
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using tools such as Python, SQL, DBT, Terraform, AWS services, MongoDB, and Snowflake.
- Automate recurring data processes and optimize existing pipelines to ensure efficient delivery into the reporting and analytics layer.
- Implement data quality monitoring and alerting frameworks across Prefect and Snowflake to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Improve deployment pipelines, infrastructure reliability, and environment consistency in collaboration with the broader engineering team.
- Partner with the Data Visualization and Product Teams to support new product development, feature rollouts, and data driven enhancements.
- Work closely with analytics and business teams to understand data requirements and ensure upstream pipelines meet downstream needs.
- Contribute to scalable engineering practices that ensure smooth coordination across data, product, and analytics functions.
- Establish and maintain documentation for pipelines, environments, data flows, and engineering standards.
- Help develop best practices around ingestion, transformation, quality checks, and release management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of hands on experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with demonstrated experience building end to end data pipelines.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration, pipeline monitoring, and automation tools.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL design patterns including star and snowflake schema and dimensional modeling.
- Experience with cloud platforms for data storage, orchestration, and compute.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast moving environments.
- Experience with Snowflake, AWS services such as S3, ECR, and EC2, DBT, Prefect, Terraform, MongoDB, and Docker.
- Exposure to data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Tableau Server.
- Strong understanding of data governance, access control, and cost optimization in cloud or multi cloud environments.
