We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our administrative team at Oxford Area High School as an Attendance Secretary. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate attendance records, supporting students and staff, and ensuring compliance with school policies. This full-time position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle various administrative tasks in a fast-paced educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily attendance records, including tracking student absences, tardies, and early dismissals.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding attendance issues and follow up on unexcused absences.
- Assist in the preparation of attendance reports for school administration and state reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update student attendance files and records in the school's database.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accurate attendance reporting and address any discrepancies.
- Provide support for students in the attendance office, answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Assist in the implementation of attendance policies and procedures in accordance with district guidelines.
- Coordinate with school counselors and administration to support students with attendance-related challenges.
- Perform general administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and responding to phone calls and emails.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in office administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with student information systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
