What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Oxendale Automotive Group?
We’re looking to add an Assistant Controller to our team — someone with a strong foundation in accounting and a deep understanding of GAAP, who enjoys problem-solving and wants to be part of a growing organization. This is not a narrow, task-based role. The Assistant Controller will work directly under the Corporate Controller and alongside the leadership team to ensure the accuracy, organization, and consistency of our financial operations across our automotive dealerships.
The Oxendale group of companies contains Automotive, Real Estate, and Construction. This position will focus on the Automotive business unit and report directly to the Corporate Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily and monthly accounting processes across multiple rooftops
Prepare and review monthly financial statements for all dealership locations
Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate supporting schedules
Identify and resolve out-of-balance issues and clean up account discrepancies
Review and support deal processing, billing, and inventory accounting
Supervise, hire, and develop accounting staff, including A/R, A/P, Titles, and Deal Billing teams
Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
Partner with General Managers across rooftops to support accurate and timely financial reporting
Identify process gaps and help improve efficiency and consistency across stores
Play a key role in the implementation of new technology and process improvements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Automotive dealership accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Proven leadership experience, including supervising and developing teams
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments and leadership levels
