What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Estimator position at Owner's Representative?
Our expanding Owner’s Representative firm is seeking a talented Estimator with a minimum of 5 years’ Commercial Construction experience to join our team. New building and alteration experience is required. Our firm is not involved in single family residential construction. Only applicants with relevant large scale commercial experience will be considered. We offer a great working environment and a diverse project portfolio.
The successful candidate will ensure that projects are coordinated and completed in a safe, timely, efficient, effective and profitable manner. The Estimator will be held responsible for all aspects related to project assignments. Job activities will include interactions with clients, and client representatives. Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects is required.
The Estimator must prepare construction project budgets. The Estimator is responsible for working with their internal team to successfully complete the project. They will oversee all budgeting, contracts, change orders, and be a point of contact for the client.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The estimator will represent the company when dealing with existing clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, in varying stages and of varying complexities
- Oversee and coordinate the design development with the design team from schematic design to 100% CDs working to value engineer the most cost effective project.
- Develop and review project budgets through SD, DD, and CD stages of drawing development
- Develop Scope and Prepare Bid Documents for projects
- Produce Bid Analysis with recommendation of award letter
- The job requires the ability to read and understand blueprints of varying complexity and size
- Must be able to work effectively both on independent projects and within the construction team
- Strong documentation and communication skills are required to maintain the level of service expected by our clients
- Responsible for maintaining organized and updated job files
- Oversee day-to day management of projects
- Review all design drawings
- Work closely with project coordinator and site team
- Keep accurate and updated budget tracking
- Responsible for tracking all changes made throughout the project
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years commercial estimating and/or project management experience
- 4 year college degree preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Prior use of Design and Field management software a bonus (i.e. Procore)
- Good verbal and written communication
- Proficient knowledge of building codes and OSHA requirements
