Job Title: Morning Support Assistant (Year-Round / Long-Term)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
PLEASE NOTE: This is a permanent, year-round position. We are looking for an individual who wants to stay and grow with us for multiple years, not a seasonal or summer-only applicant.
Work with Purpose at Owl House - Owl House Children’s Sanctuary is a play-based home childcare program in Hailey, ID, serving children ages 13 months to 5 years. Our mission is to provide a safe, enriching environment where children thrive through loving support, free play, and nourishing food.
We are seeking a patient, highly reliable Morning Support Assistant to anchor our physical space and early daily rhythm. This unique role blends daily whole-food kitchen prep and detailed home cleaning with a warm, grounded presence.
In our program, real-life work is a shared experience. While your primary focus is keeping our environment clean, organized, and well-fed, you will naturally work alongside the children, warmly welcoming them to "help" you sweep, chop vegetables, or wipe surfaces, even when their help slows things down. If you find joy in homemaking and possess an innate, calm patience with young children, this stable role is for you.
Who Thrives Here? - The ideal candidate is someone who maintains a quiet, focused presence rather than chatting with other staff, ensuring eyes and ears are entirely on the children. You are highly coachable, happy to take direct instructions, handle constructive feedback well, and adapt entirely to our specific daily routines.
What You’ll Do Every Day (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM)
- Wholesome Food Prep/Service: Prepare and serve the morning snack and lunch each day, and handle specialized prep like chopping weekly vegetables every Monday.
- Daily Home Care: Keep our space clean, sanitary, and orderly (wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, tidying, disinfecting, cleaning mirrors/windows, and maintaining the kitchen and bathroom).
- Patient Engagement: Lovingly pace your work so children can shadow and participate in your daily tasks at a gentle, supportive rhythm. (Note: You are not responsible for direct childcare duties like conflict resolution or reading stories).
As You Get Settled - After your initial onboarding, your role will naturally expand to include:
- Handling non-emergency first aid (like bandaging small scrapes) once the children are fully comfortable with you. (Note: Assistance with true emergencies is expected as soon as your CPR/First Aid certification is completed).
- Diaper changing and daily wellness routines.
- Logging daily updates in the Brightwheel app.
What You Need to Bring
- Long-Term Intent: A genuine desire to stay and grow with our program for multiple years in this vital morning support role.
- Passion & Patience: A deep love for children ages 13 months to 5 years and an innate patience.
- Reliability: Strict punctuality for the 8:00 AM start, excellent attendance, and proactive communication.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to be on your feet, move efficiently through household tasks, and safely lift up to 40 lbs.
- Background & CPR: Must pass a criminal background check and obtain CPR/First Aid certification prior to starting or immediately upon hire.
