Summary

Job Summary

Performs mammography and imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards. Applies principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patients' understanding and cooperation.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire OR
  • Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
  • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • No experience required
  • RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiology required upon hire AND
  • RT(M) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Mammography required upon hire AND
  • ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
