What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist/Coder position at Owensboro Medical Practice?
Assign diagnoses and procedures codes using ICD 10 diagnosis codes and Professional CPT codes.
Ensure codes are current, accurate and sequenced correctly
Communicate with Providers and Clinical staff regarding if documentation is insufficient or unclear.
Search for information in case where the coding is complex or unusual
Remain current with all Insurance coding and coverage guidelines
Interact with other Billing team members to assist in working denials and documentation requests
Calling insurance companies when needed
Qualifications
Working knowledge of ICD 10 Professional CPT and HCPCS codes
Familiarity with anatomy,physiology,and medical terminology
Excellent typing and 10-key speed and accuracy
