Overview
The PRN RN provides direct, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced outpatient dermatologic surgical setting, supporting procedures such as Mohs surgery, excisions, and other dermatologic surgical services. This as-needed role offers flexible scheduling to cover peak volume, staff absences, or procedure-day support.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient assessments and care
- Assist physicians during dermatologic surgical procedures (e.g., Mohs micrographic surgery, excisions, flap/graft repairs)
- Administer medications, local anesthetics, and monitor patients for adverse reactions
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control standards
- Educate patients on wound care, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up
- Document care accurately in the EMR in accordance with ASC and regulatory standards
- Support efficient patient flow and communicate with surgical team to maintain schedule
- Respond to emergencies per ASC protocols (ACLS/BLS as applicable)
Qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered RN license in Indiana
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience; ASC, OR, dermatology, or procedural nursing experience preferred
- Strong assessment, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment
Schedule:
PRN/as-needed basis; availability for [days/hours] preferred. May include short-notice shift coverage.
Compensation: Competitive compensation dependent upon experience
