Owens Industries headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is a small, dynamic company where we make complex, high-precision parts for the aerospace and defense industries.
We're looking for a full-time, skilled and motivated CNC Machinist Lead to join our 2nd shift crew!
This hands-on leadership opportunity involves both supervising a small, close-knit team of 4–6 machinists and actively working on the machines yourself. You'll be working in our clean, modern, climate-controlled shop alongside some truly veteran, long-tenured machinists who are ready to share their expertise.
Role Description
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of a 2nd shift team (4–6 machinists)
- Perform hands-on CNC setups, prove-outs, and troubleshooting of complex parts
- Operate CNC machines as needed to support workflow and priority jobs
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards, quality requirements, and internal procedures
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to ensure accuracy
- Drive accountability for quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery
- Communicate effectively with programming, quality, and day shift leadership for smooth handoffs
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap and improve cycle times
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications
- 7 years of CNC machining experience in a high-precision environment (aerospace/defense preferred)
- Strong experience with machine setup, tooling, and troubleshooting complex parts
- Prior leadership or lead experience preferred
- Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T
- Experience with 5-axis machining and exotic materials (Inconel, Titanium, etc.) strongly preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
