Responsibilities
- Create new or revise existing 3D models and 2D drawings of doors, door systems and related component designs, including configurations (iParts, iAssemblies, design tables) using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Follow all procedures for creating, revising, and releasing models and drawings into the technical database using Lifecycle Management process ensuring accuracy and completeness of all design documentation.
- Develop automated CAD solutions for configurable component, assembly, and drawing creation tools using iLogic, DriveWorks, or other programming languages for Autodesk Inventor.
- Interface with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, Tooling, Industrial Design, Operations, Sourcing, Quality etc. during product development and design analysis iterations.
- Participate in design reviews and make recommendations for improvements.
- Partner with engineering and prototyping team to design & build prototypes, jigs, fixtures to support product/test protocol development.
- Work with project managers to ensure timelines are met and project goals are achieved.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Able to create components, models, and drawings by the assigned deadline with accuracy while adhering to industry standards
- Ability to successfully collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams on fast moving projects.
- M inimum Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3 years’ experience (or 1 years’ experience with bachelor’s degree) in parametric CAD modeling using 3D CAD modeling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks
- Must have hands-on experience designing & building prototypes
- Familiar with iLogic, VBA, or object-oriented programming languages (Java, C , etc.)
- Well versed in engineering drawing standards, including screw thread callouts.
- Experienced with document lifecycle management processing using PDM systems
- Familiarity with GD&T preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide attention to detail
- Must possess ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing team
- Strong time-management abilities and a flexible attitude to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic work environment
- Proficient in all routinely used Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
- Experience programming and operating CNC machines preferred
