Imagine turning a production ticket into a finished, fire-rated or exterior-ready door system—complete with the correct glass, jamb species, hinges, and sills—then seeing it ship to a satisfied customer. That’s this job.
What will you build?
- A broad mix of units: exterior singles, sidelites, double doors, patio venting units, triples, and cut-downs.
- Complete assemblies: lock and hinge sides, headers, jambs attached to doors/sidelites, and sills for exterior, patio, and interior fire-rated units.
How will you build it?
- Manually assemble frames and marry them to slabs using pneumatic and manual tools in a fast-paced setting.
- Read/interpret production tickets; measure accurately; cut and assemble custom brickmould and sills.
- Check component correctness throughout: jamb sizes, species, glass, and label placement for fire-rated units.
- Deliver top-tier quality, safety, and productivity within the Specials department.
What you bring
- Strong product knowledge; Basic Masterpak knowledge required.
- Ability to assemble interior, exterior, and patio units to meet COQ and efficiency expectations.
- Knowledge of door handing; familiarity with jamb species; proper hinge and sill application; understanding of required fire labels and positioning.
- Comfort working with minimal supervision while verifying raw material quality, counts, species, and sizes to match customer specs.
Minimum qualifications
- Lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent bending, twisting, stooping, pushing; excellent dexterity; able to sustain a fast, physically demanding pace.
- Ability to read and understand English (required).
- High School Diploma.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
Compensation and benefits
Hourly rate: $19.00 plus benefits. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to Vandalia and may not be applicable to other locations.
