    POSITION GOAL:

    Under the direct supervision of the Director of Transportation and in conjunction with bussing providers, Transportation Logistics is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of routine and non-routine transportation services for the District.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assists in the development and management of bus routes for both Owen J Roberts SchoolDistrict and associated Non-public, Charter, and private schools. This includes managing changes to the bus routes throughout the school year, working with non-public educational entities for calendars, enrollment, and transportation needs.
    2. Serves as a liaison with the transportation contractor. This includes, but is not limited to communicating calendar and activity requirements; receiving and verifying charges and expenses; and communicating needs in cases of bus route changes including during severe weather.
    3. Assists in the creation and maintenance of all records and documentation related to transportation for the District, including but not limited to state reports, and transportation audit documentation.
    4. Assists in managing unforeseen events as they relate to transportation, which may be caused by severe weather, accidents, road closures, and other disruptions. This may include communication with the bus contractor, parents, community members; creating emergency transportation plans; and ensuring the safe transport of students to and from their respective schools.
    5. Assist in compliance with all state and local regulations for transportation.
    6. Performs clerical duties related to the efficient functioning of transportation including; processing invoices,filing,maintaining state and local reports; including ACCESS.
    7. Other tasks assigned by the Director or Transportation.
    8. Maintain the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student and district information.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
    • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
    • Experience in public school administration and/or pupil transportation preferred.
    • Experience with routing software applications preferred.
    • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and safe driving record required.
    • Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications; Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google required.
    • Proficient clerical skills, including organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy when dealing with parents, teachers, staff, community members and other external contacts; and to maintain confidentiality.
    • Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
    • Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

    The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:
    • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and to talk and hear;
    • Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch;
    • Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision and the ability to adjust focus;
    • Subject to inside office environmental conditions with moderate noise level;
    • Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and
    • Possess effective communication, judgment, planning and human relations skills; and to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    1. 262 days, 8 hours per day.
    2. Starting at $25.00 per hour; Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 384.
    3. According to the School District Policy Manual (available online at www.ojrsd.com).
