Housekeeping

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for a responsible custodian
to maintain and protect our inpatient facility. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for a housekeeper to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a housekeeping role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities of the Custodian are

• Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces 
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets 
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap) 
• Wipe mirrors and windows 
• Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances 
• Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests 
• Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.)
• Cross train as a food service team member

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
• Ability to climb ladders and work from heights 
• Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

TRAVEL

This position requires no travel.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Work hours will be scheduled to accommodate a 24/7 inpatient facility. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an inpatient facility environment.  This role routinely uses standard cleaning equipment.
