Position Overview
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cable Installer Technician to join our field service team. This hands-on role focuses on the installation, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling systems and related infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with project managers, clients, and fellow technicians to ensure high-quality, code-compliant installations that meet client needs and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, coaxial, and fiber optic cables
- Set up cable pathways including conduit, J-hooks, cable trays, and raceways
- Perform cable labeling, documentation, and network room setup
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing cabling infrastructure issues
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and local codes
- Provide clear communication with clients and team members regarding progress and any challenges
- Represent OverWatch Security with professionalism and integrity on every job site
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred (BICSI, FOA, or manufacturer-specific)
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience with cable installation or low-voltage wiring
- Understanding of TIA/EIA standards and network infrastructure
- Experience with hand and power tools used in cable installations
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in various worksite environments
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel locally and occasionally work outside of standard hours
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and color codes
- Experience with security system wiring and integration
- Familiarity with IT/networking equipment and basic configuration
- Fiber optic cable splicing and testing
- Working knowledge of security camera and access control wiring
