Job Title: Bus Driver
Location: Overton ISD
School Year: 2026–2027
Primary Purpose:
Operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route(s) and to and from other designated locations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Texas driver’s license (CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred, but not required at time of application)
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass required background check, drug and alcohol screening, and physical examination
Training Opportunity:
Overton ISD is willing to cover the cost of CDL training for selected applicants who:
- Successfully complete all hiring requirements, and
- Commit to driving a daily route for the full 2026–2027 school year
Responsibilities:
- Drive bus daily following assigned route and schedule
- Ensure safety of students while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus
- Maintain discipline and report student concerns as needed
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of the vehicle
- Follow all state, local, and district transportation policies and procedures
- Attend required training and safety meetings
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Frequent sitting, occasional standing, bending, and lifting
- Moderate noise levels
