Position Title: Batch Cook – Child Nutrition Program
Location: Overton ISD (Early Childhood–12th Grade)

About the Role
Overton ISD is seeking a dependable, team-oriented Batch Cook to join our Child Nutrition team. This position plays a key role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for students ranging from early childhood through 12th grade. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for feeding children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to a changing daily menu and production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food items according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Assist with recipe adjustments to meet federal nutrition guidelines and student preferences.
- Ensure proper portion control, food safety, and sanitation practices in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Child Nutrition staff to receive deliveries, store supplies, and maintain an organized kitchen.
- Float between food preparation, cooking, serving, and clean-up duties as needed based on menu and staffing requirements.
- Maintain accurate production and temperature records.
- Support special dietary needs or substitutions for students as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Director.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous food preparation or cooking experience in a school, institutional, or commercial kitchen (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Dependability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, following the school calendar.
- Typical hours: Early morning to mid-afternoon (exact schedule to be determined).
