JOB OVERVIEW
Overtime Elite (OTE) is searching for an experienced professional to serve as our League Housing  Manager. The mission of League Housing program is to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive living-learning community that engages players in order to foster their academic success, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. Collaborative in nature, the League Housing Manager sets and carries out the programmatic vision for the league housing facility and collaborates with other members of the league housing team in supporting the mission and goals of OTE and ensuring the safety and security of our players. Under the direction of the League Housing Director, the League Housing Manager will be responsible for supervising players, league housing programming implementation, player conduct, crisis response (active duty coverage), and collaborating across all parts of OTE (basketball, academics, and business).  The ideal candidate will actively work to  create a positive working relationship with their colleagues, players, and Housing partners.

The League Housing Manager will collaborate with the League Housing Director and Coordinator to create a housing community designed to ensure meaningful league housing experiences that allow players to develop and learn the skills necessary to successfully navigate independent life during and after their time at OTE. The ideal candidate will support and champion our OTE League Housing Programming Model (residential curriculum). The League Housing Manager must have the ability to speak formally and informally to a wide variety of stakeholders, including parents/families, players, coaches, academic staff, and league management in order to explain procedures and  investigate facts.  The ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with OTE arena staff, community members, and players is necessary.   

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Demonstrate leadership potential in the overall operation of league housing, including organizational planning, community development, and management of specific area-related budget lines.
  • Manage crisis situations, including issues such as mental health, physical health, safety and security, and facilities emergencies, and ensure appropriate follow-up with all parties involved.
  • Serve as the one of two primary conduct officers for the player. This includes but is not limited to managing the proper documentation of incident reports, holding meetings with players  to discuss violation of OTE policy and determining responsibility and disciplinary responses as appropriate. 
  • Communicate via written correspondence, telephone, and personal contact with players, parents, and staff regarding any and all League Housing matters.
  • League Housing check-in and check-out, damage billing, occupancy verification, etc.
  • Establish and supervise safety and security procedures in coordination with League Housing partner staff. This includes designing and implementing fire safety procedures, community safety inspections, and guest/visitor policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the League Housing Director in the coordination and implementation of housing procedures, policies, and the implementation of daily protocols.
  • Coordinate with on site maintenance regarding day-to-day maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Review player conduct policies and procedures and serve as the point of contact (POC)  for all reports of inappropriate behavior and behavior of concern within the league housing. This includes conducting personal meetings or mediations with all players involved. As well as implementing the appropriate escalations. 
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence to provide players with supervisory support.
  • Create a meaningful relationship with the players,, while maintaining the appropriate professional boundaries 
  • Consult with the relevant parties and/or refer players to other resources to help them if they are struggling with any athletic, personal, or academic issues.
  • Curate specialized co-curricular and extracurricular activities that support learning.
  • Facilitate student involvement in community activities and cultural opportunities. 
  • A commitment of one full academic year 
  • On call availability during particular federal holidays and unsociable hours . 

WHO YOU ARE:
  • 5 years of experience in residential housing, management, student affairs, counseling, or youth development.
  • Bachelor’s degree/certification in education, counseling, or social services (preferred).
  • The ideal candidate will understand the critical development issues facing young, elite athletes and should have a passion for student athletes and a willingness to mentor and support their personal and professional growth.
  • Experience with athletes in an environment similar to OTE. 
  • Relevant administrative experience such as program management, student affairs, and budgetary oversight
  • Proven and successful leadership background, with an expertise in player development and/or residential housing. 
  • Exhibit a strong ability to work through conflict mediation and confrontation. 
  • Understand and apply prioritization skills for work to be done - how to organize that work, and complete deliverables in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to analyze information, problem solve and use sound judgment in decision making. 
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Self-starter with exceptional operational skills. 
  • Positive and problem-solving attitude.
