Role Description The Youth Specialist is a part-time, on-site role based in Wilmington, DE, focused on supporting and leading youth in Overtime Athletics programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising children during after-school activities, camps, and clinics, facilitating age-appropriate games and sports, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. The Youth Specialist will communicate regularly with site coordinators, school staff, and families, manage group behavior positively, and follow established program guidelines and safety procedures. Additional tasks may include preparing equipment and activity materials, assisting with program setup and cleanup, and providing feedback to help improve future sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience in youth leadership, including guiding, mentoring, or supervising children in group settings.
- Background in youth programs or youth work, such as after-school activities, camps, recreation, or educational enrichment.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with children, families, and school staff in a clear, respectful, and professional manner.
- Knowledge or experience in social work, child development, or related fields that support understanding of youth needs and behavior.
- Ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for diverse groups of children.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working on-site in school or community settings.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain (preferred).
- Previous experience in sports, physical education, or recreational programming is a plus.
- Ability to pass any required background checks in accordance with local and school regulations.
