General Manager

Overlooked Materials is looking to hire an operationally experienced General Manager to scale our recycling services and products company in the Chattanooga area.

About Overlooked Materials:

Overlooked Materials launched in Chattanooga in the middle of 2024, focused on closing a gap in regional glass recycling that had persisted since 2017. We’ve brought it back with a vertically integrated recycling collection and processing company at a scale that moves the needle, and in a way that engages the community.

And, since our launch less than 18 months ago, we’ve already expanded beyond glass. In October we launched the region’s first Styrofoam recycling program. And, in Quarter 1 of 2026, we’ll be bringing 2 new material streams into our operation.

As our General Manager, you will:

· Be charged with guiding the business as we physically scale: building and implementing processes, onboarding team members, growing various parts of our processing and collections activities.

· Be a manager who is not afraid of getting their hands dirty. Early on, you’ll help support various aspects of collection, processing, and production as needed.

· Be the day-to-day face of the organization. You’ll help host field trips and visits from corporate groups, support business development, negotiate contracts, etc.

· Manage key customer, partner, and vendor relationships.

Other Requirements:

· Minimum of 5 years of experience, with at least 3 years of that being operational / project management heavy experience.

· Clean driving record; note that a CDL is not required.

· Supervisory / Team Lead Experience; experience building and implementing processes is a must

· Available core M-F daytime hours; we can provide some schedule flexibility depending on the candidate

· Ability to commute to our site in Ridgedale (near Highland Park).

Nice to Haves:

· Sales and/or business development experience

· Relevant technical degree or vocational training (can be substituted with relevant work experience

· Forklift /skid steer experience; engineering experience

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
