JOB SUMMARY:
Overland Corporation is seeking a driver Lead Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is perfect for an up-and-coming estimator with a strong foundation in heavy civil construction who is ready for more responsibility. Youll lead portions of the estimating process, work with a team of experienced professionals, and have a clear path to advance into a senior estimator position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review project details and bid documents, to provide summary information for go/no-go meetings and/or constructability reviews.
Perform take-offs and deliver accurate quantities checks.
Apply personal experience in earthwork, bridge construction, drainage installation, and roadway paving (concrete and asphalt) to develop proposed crew make-up and production rates for building estimates.
Participate in the management processes and procedure of the estimate.
Perform initial project estimating with oversight.
Take ownership of bid closeout activities.
Coordinate the activities of a team of estimators, review estimates, maintain records, and assist team other estimate team members.
Establish and maintain budget control during the estimating / preconstruction phases of the project.
Analyze, review, and interpret engineering contracts, plans, and specifications to develop detailed and comprehensive construction estimates.
Oversee the estimating function and associated workflow in a project environment, coordinating input from internal and external groups required for estimate and proposals.
Ensure the estimating and proposal activities are in accordance with Overland Corporation codes and standards.
Participate in interview preparations for negotiated bids and assist in pre-qualification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2-10 years of experience in civil estimating or a related role.
Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
Professional communication and teamwork with supervisors, employees, and stakeholders.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and efficiently. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge of Heavy Civil, Earthwork, Drainage, Pipe Installation, Asphalt Paving, and Bridge Building.
Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling, cost control, specifications, engineering drawings, methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools. HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam and Primavera P6.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimal traveling is required for this position.
