About Overland Property Group (OPG)

Overland Property Group (OPG) is a nationally recognized real estate development and investment company specializing in affordable, workforce, mixed-income, market-rate, senior, and historic multifamily housing. Since 2002, OPG has successfully developed more than 90 communities representing over $1 billion in development across the central United States.

Unlike many development firms, OPG manages the entire development lifecycle, from land acquisition and financing through design, construction, stabilization, ownership, and long-term asset management. Our entrepreneurial culture, relationship-driven approach, and reputation for execution have fueled consistent growth, creating exciting opportunities for talented professionals who want to grow alongside the company.

Assistant Controller:

Overland Property Group is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly capable Assistant Controller to join our accounting leadership team.

This is not just another traditional accounting position. It is a growth path and leadership opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional who wants to become a key contributor within one of the region's fastest-growing real estate development companies.

Working directly with our Controller, who is an expert in real estate development, construction, partnership, and affordable housing accounting, you will help lead the accounting function across a diverse portfolio of affiliated companies while assuming significant ownership over day-to-day accounting operations.

As OPG continues to grow, this position will take on increasing responsibility across financial reporting, accounting operations, systems, internal controls, process improvement, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, taking ownership, and building scalable accounting systems in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment while still handing all the firms basic bookkeeping/accounting work.

This role is designed for someone who wants to become the Controller's trusted second-in-command while developing into a senior accounting leader within the organization.

  • Assist in developing, documenting, and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiencies, and implement best practices.

  • Coordinate intercompany accounting and reconciliations.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Treasury

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Review vendor invoices and ensure proper coding across multiple companies.
  • Manage payment processing, including ACH, wire transfers, and check runs.
  • Review employee expense reports and company credit card activity.
  • Maintain vendor files, W-9s, and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Assist with banking relationships, treasury management, and cash management.

  • Monitor project budgets and construction expenditures.
  • Review project cost allocations across multiple entities.

  • Coordinate annual audits with outside accounting firms.
  • Assist with preparation of tax workpapers and information requested by external CPA firms.
  • Ensure compliance with lender, investor, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with insurance audits and other financial compliance matters.
