As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340 bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee. Each year our colleagues treat over 45,000 patients. Job Summary And Qualifications
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your focus on safety and attention to detail helps protect patients and empowers a team that’s committed to the care and improvement of human life – one surgery at a time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
- Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care
- Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs
- Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
- Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries
- Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation and all aspects of sterilization processes, completion of a sterile processing program preferred
- Prefer six months to one year in a surgical or other related health care setting
- Knowledge of the functions of decontamination and sterilization equipment preferred
- Ability to exchange information in a factual, objective manner
- Willingness to take direction from multiple sources
- Able to be flexible with regard to task priorities and time schedules
