Job Summary And Qualifications
- Assists in providing an active, effective hospital-wide Infection Control/Prevention Program that consists of surveillance, prevention and control of hospital associated infections under the direction of the Manager of Infection Control.
- Implements and monitors effectiveness of program standards.
- Implements programs to ensure the hospitals adherence to OSHA, JCAHO, state and local government standards.
- Conducts activity to identify incidence and trends.
- Serves as an education/resource for Infection Control issues.
- May also need to assist in duties when needed in Employee Health and Sepsis.
- Collects and analyze infection control data and plan, implement and evaluate infection prevention and control measures.
- Focuses on identifying, controlling and preventing outbreaks of infection in healthcare settings.
- Reports infection prevention data to the appropriate regulatory body.
- Provides education about infection risk, prevention, and control.
- Participates in development and revision of infection control policies and procedures.
- Act as a consultant on the development or revision of infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
- Associates in Nursing required, BSN preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- Certification in Infection Prevention (CBIC) required or actively working toward certification with a plan to complete within two years from hire.
- Previous Infection Control experience preferred. Experience in infectious diseases, public health and microbiology preferred.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in clinical nursing required.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and conduct educational programs.
- Ability to interpret analysis outcome results and apply them to practice.
- Ability to interpret standards of practice and communicate them to others.
