Grocery Associate (Part-Time)
Overland Grocery Outlet – Boise, Idaho
Position Summary
Overland Grocery Outlet is looking for friendly, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join our team as Grocery Associates. This position is designed to provide training and experience in either our Grocery Merchandising team or our Front-End Cashier team, depending on business needs and individual strengths.
We are seeking team members who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, take pride in their work, and are committed to providing excellent customer service. Part-time positions may have the opportunity to transition into full-time employment based on performance and the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
Grocery Merchandiser Duties
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays with product.
- Rotate merchandise and check product dates to ensure freshness.
- Build and maintain attractive displays and end caps.
- Keep aisles clean, organized, and well merchandised.
- Receive and unload deliveries.
- Operate equipment and machinery safely after proper training.
- Assist customers with locating products and answering questions.
Cashier Duties
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
- Accurately scan and process customer purchases.
- Handle cash, credit card, and electronic transactions.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
- Assist with bagging groceries and helping customers as needed.
- Follow all company policies regarding alcohol sales and age verification.
- Support overall store operations during slower periods.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Retail, grocery, stocking, merchandising, or customer service experience is preferred but not required—we are happy to train the right person.
Availability Requirements
Our store is open 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.
To be considered for this position, candidates should:
- Have availability to work a variety of shifts, including opening and closing shifts.
- Be available to work weekends, including Sundays.
- We understand and respect religious commitments and will work with employees when possible to accommodate those needs.
- Be flexible with scheduling based on the needs of the business.
Age Requirements
Because this position may involve training in different areas of the store:
- Merchandisers must be at least 18 years old to operate certain equipment and machinery.
- Cashiers must be at least 19 years old to legally sell alcohol in Idaho.
Applicants who do not meet these age requirements may still be considered for other opportunities within the store when available.
