Position Overview
The Senior SEO Strategist is a leadership role responsible for driving advanced SEO and AEO programs for enterprise clients, mentoring junior team members, and managing complex client engagements. This role requires deep technical knowledge across traditional and AI-driven search, strong consulting instincts, and the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Execution
- Develop and execute advanced SEO and AEO strategies for enterprise clients, spanning technical audits, content optimization, keyword research, and AI visibility programs including content structuring for LLM retrieval, entity coverage, structured data, and crawler access.
- Apply a working understanding of information retrieval principles (indexing, ranking, retrieval augmented generation) to inform how content is structured, surfaced, and evaluated by both traditional and AI-driven search systems.
- Build measurement frameworks that connect organic performance to business outcomes, including AI traffic attribution models in GA4.
- Lead cross-channel efforts integrating SEO and AEO with paid media, content, social, and analytics teams.
- Understand client business models and apply that understanding to strategy, prioritization, and executive-level recommendations.
Client, Team, and Agency
- Own enterprise client engagements from kickoff through ongoing delivery, navigating multiple stakeholders and building durable working relationships.
- Present strategies and findings directly to client POCs and senior stakeholders. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-oriented recommendations that earn client buy-in.
- Support new business pitches with audits and competitive analysis, and contribute to the sales process with pitch materials and discovery support.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal process documentation and reference templates.
Qualifications
Experience
- 5 years of hands-on SEO experience with a strong emphasis on technical and strategic work.
- 3 years presenting SEO strategies to client POCs and senior stakeholders.
- 3 years leading client accounts in an agency environment, managing multiple engagements simultaneously with minimal oversight.
- Proven track record of driving measurable organic growth for enterprise or multi-location clients.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills
SEO, Technical, and Measurement
- Deep knowledge of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO, including complex edge cases: JavaScript indexation, crawl budget mechanics, canonicalization conflicts, and medium-scale domain migrations without oversight.
- Working understanding of information retrieval principles and how they govern content indexing, ranking, and retrieval in both traditional search engines and AI-driven systems.
- Ability to interpret large datasets across GA4, GSC, Adobe Analytics, and Looker Studio and translate findings into clear, actionable strategies.
- Proficiency in Screaming Frog and keyword research tools such as Conductor, BrightEdge, Ahrefs, or SEMrush.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. This includes building and presenting polished, client-ready deliverables from scratch.
AI Search, AEO, and Tooling
- Working understanding of RAG architecture and how it governs content retrieval in AI search engines including ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
- Familiarity with how Google's AI systems (BERT, NavBoost, HCS, SpamBrain) evaluate content.
- Ability to develop and execute AI visibility strategies covering content structuring for retrieval, entity recognition, structured data, and crawler access.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and a demonstrated habit of staying current with how AI search is evolving.
Consulting and Communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex SEO and AI search concepts to non-technical stakeholders and consistently gain client buy-in on recommendations.
- Ability to connect SEO and AEO strategy to client business outcomes, not just traffic and rankings.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment with minimal oversight.
- Collaborative cross-functional mindset with experience working across paid, content, social, and analytics teams.
Nice to Haves
- Experience using AI APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Ollama, or similar) to build or prototype workflows.
- Python experience, particularly for data analysis or automation.
- Proficiency with Conductor.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) or Google Search Console (GSC) certification.
- Experience in Medical, B2B, SaaS, eCommerce, or professional services industries.
- Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress, HubSpot, Webflow, or Drupal.

Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
