Over the Rainbow is a nurturing and inclusive early childhood education center dedicated to providing high-quality care and learning experiences for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Since 2012, our play-based program has focused on fostering creativity, curiosity, and confidence through enriching activities including music, yoga, sign language, Spanish, dance, and more. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director to lead our team and ensure our center operates at the highest standards of safety, education, and family engagement.
Position Summary:
The Director will oversee the daily operations of the childcare center, manage staff, ensure compliance with state and local regulations, and foster a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and effective communicator, with experience in early childhood education administration.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership & Administration:
- Oversee all aspects of the childcare centers operations, including enrollment, staffing, curriculum implementation, and facility management.
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies.
- Develop and maintain the center budget, including payroll, supplies, and operational expenses.
- Implement and monitor policies and procedures to maintain high-quality care and educational standards.
- Maintain accurate records, including child files, staff documentation, and financial reports.
Staff Management & Development:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff, including teachers, assistants, and support personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and staff retention.
- Ensure proper staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.
Curriculum & Program Development:
- Oversee curriculum planning and implementation to support childrens social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Promote age-appropriate learning activities, enrichment programs, and educational standards.
- Monitor classroom environments to ensure they are safe, stimulating, and engaging.
Parent & Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, promptly addressing questions, concerns, and feedback.
- Organize and participate in parent meetings, events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Promote positive relationships between staff, families, and the broader community.
Compliance & Safety:
- Maintain strict adherence to licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and health regulations are followed.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and address maintenance needs promptly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or 12 ECE credits
- Previous experience in childcare management or early childhood education leadership.
- Directors Credential preferred, or willing to obtain certification.
- Strong understanding of child development, curriculum design, and early learning standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and staff effectively.
- Knowledge of state licensing regulations and best practices in childcare.
