Position Summary
The Kitchen Supervisor oversees daily back-of-house operations to ensure high-quality food preparation, safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow. This role supports kitchen staff, maintains inventory, enforces food safety standards, and helps create a positive and productive kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and experienced in a fast-paced, small restaurant setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during prep, service, and closing.
- Ensure all food is prepared to recipe standards and quality expectations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen that meets local health code requirements.
- Assist with scheduling, training, and onboarding back-of-house staff.
- Monitor inventory levels; coordinate ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
- Communicate with management regarding staffing needs, equipment issues, or operational improvements.
- Help reduce waste and control food costs through proper storage and portioning.
- Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and kitchen efficiency.
- Step in on the line or in prep areas when needed.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in a kitchen or culinary environment (supervisory experience preferred).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and kitchen operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary training or certification.
- Experience working in a small local restaurant.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
