The ideal candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications, ensuring medication safety, providing patient counseling, and collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Strong knowledge of drug therapy, regulatory compliance, and patient interaction is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Dispensing & Management
- Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients.
- Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure appropriateness and accuracy.
- Perform medication therapy reviews and check for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records.
- Provide detailed instructions on medication usage, side effects, and storage.
- Educate patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Address patient questions and concerns regarding medication therapy.
- Compound medications when required (sterile and non-sterile).
- Monitor patient health and medication adherence.
- Assist in medication therapy management (MTM) programs.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (FDA, DEA, HIPAA).
- Maintain and follow pharmacy policies, procedures, and controlled substance documentation.
- Participate in audits, quality checks, and inventory management.
- Communicate with physicians and healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and recommend alternatives.
- Work with pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm / Pharm.D / M.Pharm).
- Valid state Pharmacist license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of drug interactions, dosing, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Prior experience working as a Pharmacist in a hospital, retail, or clinical setting.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems (e.g., PioneerRx, McKesson, EPIC, Cerner).
- Certification in immunization delivery or MTM (optional).
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
