Katmai Wilderness Lodge is seeking a highly capable, organized, and self-motivated Facilities & Operations Coordinator for our 2027 season. This is a hands-on and highly trusted position responsible for helping maintain the readiness, appearance, organization, and day-to-day functionality of our remote wilderness lodge. The Facilities & Operations Coordinator works across nearly every area of the property and plays an important behind-the-scenes role in ensuring both lodge operations and the guest experience run smoothly.

The Facilities & Operations Coordinator is entrusted with significant responsibility for the condition and operational readiness of Katmai Wilderness Lodge. The position requires someone who can be given responsibility for an area and take ownership of it, recognizing what needs to be done without requiring a checklist or reminder for every individual task.

This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in keeping things organized and operating correctly, and is comfortable moving between guest-facing responsibilities, property maintenance, logistics, equipment, and general lodge operations. No two days at KWL are exactly alike.

  • Support aircraft arrival/departure, guest luggage, freight, and backhaul operations.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, grounds, trails, decks, and other guest-facing spaces.
  • Monitor facility supplies and basic operational systems and communicate developing needs or concerns to the Lodge Manager.
  • Identify maintenance or operational issues early and address appropriate minor issues or report them promptly.
  • Support other lodge departments and general property operations as needed.
  • Ensuring guest spaces are ready, operational areas are organized, equipment is
  • prepared before it is needed, and developing problems are identified early.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None. This position works directly with and under the direction of the Lodge Managers and is expected to take initiative within assigned responsibilities.

It is Ouzinkie Native Corporation and subsidiaries' business philosophy and practice to provide reasonable accommodation, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Katmai Wilderness Lodge is a remote wilderness operation where team members live and work on property in a primarily off-grid environment. Work is varied and physically demanding and may be performed in adverse or changing conditions, including high humidity, heat, cold, high winds, rain, uneven terrain, wildlife activity, and other conditions characteristic of remote Alaska.

Weather, aircraft schedules, guest needs, equipment, and operational priorities can change quickly. Some days are busier than others, particularly during guest changeovers, aircraft operations, and periods of significant lodge activity. Because staff size is limited, employees must work cooperatively, remain flexible and resourceful, adapt as priorities change, and be willing to assist outside their primary responsibilities when necessary.

This position provides an opportunity to spend a season living and working in an extraordinary remote environment while becoming an important part of a small team.
