Job Description
The Job Coach is responsible for providing direct support to individuals in achieving and maintaining successful employment. This includes career exploration, employment preparation, assistance in finding and retaining jobs, and developing skills that promote independence and career growth. The Job Coach plays a vital role in helping individuals overcome vocational barriers and succeed in community-based work settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support individuals at their job sites, which may include paid or volunteer positions or educational settings.
- Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to help participants meet vocational goals.
- Assist with personal care tasks (e.g., eating, toileting, dressing) when required, based on individual needs.
- Attend required staff meetings, contact meetings, in-service trainings, and conferences as scheduled.
- Participate in workshops, job fairs, and community events to promote employment opportunities.
- Train individuals on employment readiness skills such as workplace communication, punctuality, and teamwork.
- Develop natural supports and accommodations to ensure long-term job success.
- Assist individuals in accessing and utilizing public or arranged transportation as needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all job development, coaching activities, and placements weekly.
- Accurately track and report employment data and progress in accordance with program requirements.
- Negotiate customized employment opportunities with local businesses to match individual skills.
- Adhere to all OPR policies and procedures and uphold professional standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing supported employment or vocational services to individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong knowledge of workplace expectations and employer standards.
- Ability to handle a wide range of employee/employer relationships with professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to research the job market and identify employment opportunities.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
