Job Title: Work Based Learning Experience Coordinator
Reports to: Program Director
Job Description: The WBLE Coordinator plays a vital role in connecting students with meaningful career development experiences. This position is responsible for implementing strategies that promote systems change, empower students, and improve placement outcomes through paid and unpaid internship opportunities. The Coordinator builds partnerships with employers, acts as a liaison between schools, counselors, and businesses, and ensures that each work-based learning experience aligns with OPR’s mission of empowering individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong employer partnerships to create diverse and inclusive internship and job shadowing opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with school counselors, job coaches, and employers to align internship opportunities with students’ interests, skills, and goals.
- Meet with students to assess career interests and assist with completing work permits, onboarding forms, and other required documentation.
- Develop and manage job coach schedules based on student placements and worksite needs.
- Host Fall and Spring “Industry Fairs” or similar events to connect students with local employers.
- Coordinate logistics for all work-based learning placements, ensuring proper documentation, authorizations, and time tracking.
- Monitor student progress during internships and communicate regularly with employers and counselors to ensure successful outcomes.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking referrals, placements, and closures; input all data into Google Drive and OPR tracking systems.
- Partner with the Field Job Developer to match students with suitable opportunities based on assessment results.
- Evaluate and support staff performance; help set professional goals and ensure compliance with OPR policies.
- Manage supplies, materials, and reporting requirements for the WBLE program.
- Participate in regular meetings with schools, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Remain current on trends and best practices in work-based learning and inclusive employment.
- Apply crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills when necessary to ensure student safety and success.
- Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all participants and program data.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong organizational skills required to successfully manage multiple tasks
- (2) years direct experience in a related field or bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related field, four year’s progressive work experience in related field.
- Current and relevant knowledge of regional needs and available resources
- Strong communication skills, oral and written; with experience in public speaking
- Some experience with the analysis of programs to identify areas for expansion, appropriate solutions or termination preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, outside agencies and the general public; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal instruction.
- Knowledge regarding unique employment issues, training principles, and workplace support strategies related to persons with developmental disabilities.
Location
- This is a HYBRID position. Occasional travel to Silver Spring, Wheaton, Germantown, Suitland, and Waldorf are required.
- Some weekend availability preferred

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
