We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Assistant to join our team in providing direct behavioral support to children and young adults aged 3-21. The Behavior Assistant will work one-on-one with clients in their homes, implementing evidence-based behavior interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed clinician. This role focuses on improving behavior and supporting clients in meeting their individualized treatment goals as outlined in their clinician’s treatment plan. In home or in the community
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BAISP) and strategies as designed by the supervising clinician.
- Provide direct support to clients in a home setting, ensuring a safe, structured, and positive environment.
- Use reinforcement techniques, behavior modification strategies, and teaching methods to encourage skill development and behavior improvement.
- Track and document client progress according to treatment plan objectives, recording data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with the clinician to discuss progress, challenges, and any changes in behavior or treatment needs.
- Model and teach clients coping strategies, social skills, and appropriate behaviors.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living and foster independence where appropriate.
- Build rapport and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with clients and their families.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure client safety during sessions.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other professionals as needed to enhance client progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, or related field preferred.
- High School Diploma Okay
- Experience working with children or individuals with behavioral challenges at least 1year (previous experience as a ba or in a similar role is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, compassion, and a commitment to working with children and young adults in a positive and supportive manner.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and manage challenging behaviors professionally.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Must be reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Background check and clearances as required by law.
- Bilingual a plus
