What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing & Events Intern position at Outreach International?
Position Objective: Outreach is a dynamic and impactful nonprofit organization dedicated to building a world beyond poverty. We are seeking a motivated and creative intern to join our team and assist with critical projects related to event planning, marketing, fundraising, donor relations and internal operations. This internship presents an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and project management, network with professionals in the field, and contribute to meaningful initiatives.
Reports to: Donor Support & Engagement Manager
Schedule: 10–12 hours per week. August - December 2026.
Location: This is a hybrid internship based in Kansas City, Missouri. Applicants must be able to work on-site as required and perform all work from Kansas or Missouri during the internship.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Events & Fundraising Support
- Assist with logistics and preparation for several in-person Outreach International fundraising and outreach events
- Support sponsorship planning and prospect research for upcoming events
- Conduct corporate giving prospect research to identify and qualify potential partners and donors
- Assist in creating supporting materials and fulfillment for a youth fundraising program using during the holiday season
- Opportunity to participate in local networking events, gaining broader exposure to the Kansas City business community
Content & Communications
- Research topics, learn SEO best practices, and create a blog post for the Outreach International website with support from the Communications team
- Research trends and assist in creating content for social media channels
- Help prepare quarterly congregational bulletins for supporters
- Support PR efforts, including media research and materials preparation
- Research NGO website best practices and digital trends to inform future website improvements
- Assist with Google Display Ad campaigns, including research and basic design support
- Help compile and document field updates from the Global Operations team
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a relevant degree program (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, etc.).
- College student with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content.
- Creative mindset with an understanding of social media platforms.
- Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).
- Design experience with Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications is a plus.
- Passion for nonprofit work.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation of $12/hour or class credit where applicable
- Hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, marketing, operations and project management.
