Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect privacy.
- Support medication administration and care plan implementation under supervision, ensuring safety and adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote health and well-being.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community activities to foster independence and social engagement.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas, laundry, and organizing personal belongings.
- Document patient observations, care activities, and communication with healthcare professionals clearly and thoroughly to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, autism support, developmental disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Certifications in First Aid and CPR are required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and manual handling techniques is a plus.
- Ability to monitor patients closely for changes in condition and respond appropriately with effective communication skills.
- Experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining professionalism.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with mobility tasks safely.
