Position: Vocational Counselor
Outreach is seeking a qualified candidate for the position Part Time Vocational Counselor at our Men’s Community Residence located in Brentwood, Long Island. The Vocational Counselor is responsible for the delivery of vocational/educational/guidance services to clients of Outreach Residential Services and serves as a member of the treatment team.
Job Scope:
- Insure ongoing vocational assessments are completed and accurate for all clients in residential program.
- Complete TABE testing for clients enrolled in program.
- Ensure compliance with regard to tracking, reporting and outcome objectives, including ongoing internal review of service delivery.
- Implement vocational services and promote utilization of staff that serves to enhance program utilization, service delivery and workforce development for clients.
- Initiate specialized projects, e.g., outreach, site visits, to promote access and utilization of vocational services.
- Participate in program and staff meetings, where appropriate.
- Intake assessment of new admissions and vocational/educational case management services for clients.
- Provide crisis intervention and group work services and back up coverage as needed
Who You Are:
CR, LCSW, LMHC, LMSW, MHC-LP, or MSW required
Non-qualified health professional with experience in job development/vocational placement and services or limited permit/clinical Master’s level with relevant experience in vocational placement will be considered
Bachelor's degree with related experience
Experience conducting comprehensive vocational assessments and TABE testing
Experience providing vocational services and resources for adults with addiction diagnoses
Valid NYS driver's license
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
