GENERAL

As a licensed, dentist, you will provide healthcare services to high-quality primary care patients of all ages for a non-profit organization with FQHC health services in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Under the administrative supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the dentist position will be responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in an assigned health center location. The dental provider will be responsible for developing treatment plans, prescribing patients appropriate medication, referrals, and other dental procedures with OMC's scope of services.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines;
  • Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided;
  • Performs dental operations and treats oral diseases; refers cases, when appropriate; confers with physicians regarding medical/dental problems;
  • Educates patients and parents in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention;
  • Attends staff conferences;
  • Keeps clinical and other records regarding services provided, supplies and materials used;
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services provided consistent with the organization's policies and the standards of the dental profession;
  • Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested;
  • Assists in the coordination and integration of the organization's dental programs and services with other organization programs and services for the welfare of the company's patients;
  • Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center

rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality;

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Requirements

Frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel, required to stand, walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee must also be able to hear and have excellent visual acuity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of adult learning principles, ambulatory nursing practices and procedures, and community resources. Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication; working knowledge of general office procedures, office copiers, fax machines, computers, electronic medical records and multi-line telephone systems; ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds; work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups; communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing); consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude; consistently maintain ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public; work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships; work toward goals and objectives of OMC policies - including adhering to OMC immunization policy and the mission, vision, and Guiding Principles; ability to receive constructive feedback in a positive manner; and be available to accept new assignments to meet emergency-related responsibilities.

Education / Experience

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry.

Preferred: Previous work experience in a clinic or community health center and Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

License and/or Certification

D.D.S/ D.M.D in State of Louisiana

Current CPR

Valid Driver's License
