The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in recruiting, training, and supporting hospice volunteers who provide companionship, support, and comfort to patients and their families. Responsibilities
- Recruit, screen, and train new volunteers in alignment with hospice policies and regulations.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure coverage for patient and family needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of volunteer hours, activities, and compliance requirements.
- Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and recognition to hospice volunteers.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to match volunteers with appropriate assignments.
- Develop creative ways to engage and retain volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospice accreditation standards.
- Prior volunteer management or leadership experience preferred (but not required).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Compassionate, dependable, and able to work with sensitivity in end-of-life care settings.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email).
- Ability to commit to a flexible schedule of :10 to 15 hours per week (in-office and/or remote support).
